Adam Randall Scouting Report
Adam Randall is a big-bodied back whose background as a former wide receiver allows him to be a positive impact in the passing game.
Draft Grade: Round 6 - Role Specific Contributor
Strengths:
Pass Catcher: Randall is a former receiver at Clemson, giving him an in-depth understanding of routes and concepts. This allows him to be a plus-level receiving option out of the backfield or potentially line up at receiver to create offensive mismatches.
Frame/Size: Listed at 6’2” and 230 pounds, Randall has an ideal frame to be a productive back at the NFL level.
Contact Balance: Because of his size and running style, Randall shows solid contact balance, allowing him to absorb contact from defenders and maintain his footing to continue picking up yards.
Concerns:
Instincts: As a player still relatively new to the running back position, Randall has a learning curve with the finer details of the role. Areas such as anticipating holes, vision, and manipulating second-level defenders are aspects he needs to continue to develop.
Top-End Speed: Randall lacks the top-end speed to consistently pull away from defenders. He is more of a straight-line speed player who also lacks strong initial burst and acceleration.
Scheme Specific: Randall appears best suited for an inside zone scheme as a runner. He shows limited willingness or ability to execute lateral cuts and is most effective when he can get his pads north and south toward the line of scrimmage.
