Sam Hecht Scouting Report
Sam Hecht is an agile, light-footed center who's strong between the ears and an efficient operator in zone run schemes.
Draft Grade: Round 7 - Role Specific Contributor
Strengths:
Footwork and Angles in the Run Game: Shows consistent footwork, gets out of his stance quickly, and stays in frame before and through contact. Rarely misses landmarks.
Sustaining Blocks in the Run Game: Does a good job of remaining attached and not allowing defenders to disengage. Feet stay active through the drive phase, and he is relentless in winning blocks.
Fluid Athlete/Movement Skills: Displays good acceleration on horizontal run schemes to reach defenders at both levels. Shows fluid hips to change direction and is capable of mirroring in pass protection.
Concerns:
Physical Traits/Power: Lacks the size and strength to consistently displace defenders or anchor. He can struggle against bigger, stronger opponents and does not possess natural power.
Leverage: Tends to play upright, with hips rising on contact, which leads to struggles maintaining proper posture and body shape in run fits.
Lapses in Pass Protection: Shows occasional inconsistencies in technique and can struggle when working through pressure looks and stunts.
