TCU offensive lineman Bless Harris played more than 700 snaps at left tackle for the Horned Frogs this past season. Harris drew a lot of interest from NFL teams during the collegiate all-star circuit as a result. Scouts view him as an underrated prospect.
Harris recently spoke exclusively with The Draft Network. Harris discussed his experience at left tackle, impressing scouts at this year’s Tropical Bowl, positional versatility, which teams he’s met with, and more.
JM: You participated in this year's Tropical Bowl. What do you think you proved to scouts in attendance?
Bless Harris: The Tropical Bowl was a great experience for me to display my skill set in front of NFL scouts. It felt like I was playing college football one last time. I went out there and competed with some high-quality guys.
I showed what I could do as a swing tackle. I played on both the left and right side. I was a physical presence out there.
JM: You played 705 snaps at left tackle for TCU this past season. Do teams primarily see you playing tackle at the next level, or could you kick inside to guard?
Bless Harris: Before the pre-draft process really began, I knew some scouts saw me playing guard. After the Tropical Bowl, everything I’ve been hearing screams offensive tackle.
JM: That means you proved yourself at the Tropical Bowl. How would you describe your traits and abilities as a lineman? Are you agile in space, or a phone-booth blocker? Describe your identity.
Bless Harris: I feel like I can do both. I love displaying power in a phone booth, but I’m also very athletic for my size. I played a little tight end in high school. I have easy movement skills. I have great feet to this day.
I feel like I’m very athletic in space. I’m always tweaking little things in the run game. I feel like I’m a good run blocker though. I just have to keep proving myself.
JM: What was your favorite play to run in the TCU playbook this past season? Something you got excited about hearing in the huddle?
Bless Harris: I loved our screen plays here and there. More traditionally, I love outside zone. I love getting out there on the edge on a guy’s outside shoulder. We try to run them off to the sideline on outside zone.
JM: It’s always such a fun one. Now that you’ve had time to reflect, how do you look back on the decision to go from Florida State to TCU?
Bless Harris: When I first got to Florida State, I suffered a season-ending injury. I did a nice job bouncing back from that the following year. Midway through that season, I was more of a rotational player. After the conference championship, I knew I wanted to find a home for myself where I could be a full-time starter at left tackle.
I wanted to be “the guy.” That’s what I did. I ended up at TCU and they gave me the opportunity I was looking for.
JM: It worked out well for you. Have you met with any NFL teams throughout this process, and do you have any meetings coming up?
Bless Harris: I met with a handful of teams at the Tropical Bowl. I had strong meetings with the Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, and I met with the Indianapolis Colts twice. I also have invites to the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints local days.
JM: There’s a lot of interest in you and it’s easy to see why. We've appreciated your time today. Why should a team use one of their draft picks on Bless Harris?
Bless Harris: You’re going to get a very coachable player who gives maximum effort. I can quickly grasp a playbook because I’ve played in many different systems throughout my career. I just need an opportunity.
I’m a physical specimen who plays with a ton of passion. I’m ready to lay my body on the line for the organization.
