Film Analysis:

Dorian Singer is a true senior who is a two-time transfer. He started his career at Arizona for two seasons before transferring to Southern Cal for the 2023 season and now concluding his career at Utah. He excelled in 2022, recording 66 catches for 1,105 yards and 6 touchdowns. His production dipped in the 2023 season while at USC, but picked up following his transfer to Utah, recording 53 catches for 702 yards and one score in the 2024 season. Singer consistently shows strong hands and has an excellent ability to routinely make the difficult catch.

Singer mainly lines up as the boundary X receiver and shows extremely strong hands. He has a natural ability for catching the football, as few catchable targets his way are incomplete. He can use his long arms to routinely make the contested catch, including over the middle as well as on back-shoulder throws. He also makes the acrobatic catch more often than not. Despite only being 6-foot, Singer can attack the ball at its highest point and makes plays over taller DBs. He also fluidly tracks the ball down the field on over-the-shoulder catches. Singer is at his best when he is given chances to make plays down the field.

Singer also shows the ability to consistently win on inside-breaking routes. Singer wins versus off-man coverage and that is where you see him run his best routes. When running in-breaking routes, he does a nice job of breaking the DB’s leverage and then maintaining that leverage throughout the route. Singer also is a tougher runner after the catch than one would expect given his frame.

There are multiple areas of concern and questions for Singer that must be addressed. This includes the dramatic dip in production since the 2022 season at Arizona. Some of it can be attributed to spotty QB play this season at Utah. However, while playing with Caleb Williams in 2023 at USC, Singer was largely uninvolved and unproductive in their offense. There is also a positional concern for Singer. Singer lines up on the outside the majority of the time. However, he does not have the size nor has he shown the consistent ability to get off press-man coverage to excel there at the next level. He has not shown a variety of successful moves to get off press coverage, instead relying solely on a speed release. Longer DBs in the NFL will have the chance to get their hands on him and completely disrupt his route.

Another concern for Singer is the separation he creates in his routes. He gets covered far more often than you would like to see from a top receiver. Singer gets stuck coming out of his breaks, giving DBs time to recover and sometimes even undercut his routes. Singer lacks a sense of creativity in his routes that elite route-runners show, relying on the same releases repeatedly. Singer also does not show the ability nor the willingness to be an effective blocker.

Overall, Singer has areas of concern that must be addressed if he is going to have a prolonged career in the NFL. He projects as a role-specific contributor.
