Film Analysis:
Dominick Blaylock played part-time for three seasons at Georgia before transferring to Georgia Tech and finishing his best season since he was a freshman with 21 receptions for 337 yards. Moving around the formation more at Georgia Tech, he was able to use his physicality more as a blocker and showcase his ball tracking.
Blaylock is best when given space as a power slot where he can eat up space and use his physical nature to box out smaller defensive backs. He shows flashes of release work with decent hand usage to stack defensive backs vertically and play above the rim with his tracking and ball skills. He’ll be a plus blocker on screens or special teams.
He lacks the route-running and nuance to create separation for himself on the outside and is forced to play as an above-the-rim threat who lacks versatility. He’s an underwhelming athlete with little wiggle and the ability to make guys miss in space, and it shows up in his route footwork. His speed is average at best, limiting his effectiveness as a deep threat.
Overall, Blaylock has not shown the ability to be a second or third option in college, and his lack of athleticism and speed make it difficult for him to win at every level of the field. He profiles best as a power slot that can use his size against smaller nickel defenders.
