Film Analysis:
Brian Stevens is a versatile and technical lineman who will add depth to an NFL front five. The former transfer from Dayton has earned snaps up and down the offensive line, with legitimate workloads at every position except for right tackle.
As a run blocker, Stevens gets after defenders at the line of scrimmage. Can extend and play over his toes a bit too much, but he utilizes his length well and showcases an understanding of leverage and body positioning. Not a man-mover but Stevens plays with a high level of physicality up front that can shock less physical opponents. Will often get into pushing matches after the whistle as opponents can become frustrated with his constant push and effort. Not a dynamic athlete but has experience as a puller. Heavy hands to jolt opponents back, but does not have the requisite play strength and power in his lower half to generate the force needed to relocate defenders.
In pass pro, Stevens showcases a strong anchor and high-level awareness to ID stunts/twists. His ability to shuffle and pass off defenders could be considered elite. Stevens plays with a good base and sits in his hips well. He has room to play with further depth, however, allowing him to meet pass rushers eye-to-eye and reduce surface area in his chest for opponents to target. The ability to rotate from tackle, guard, to center with success showcases a well-rounded lineman who has the profile of a depth piece.
Primary concerns remain regarding his fundamental play strength and flexibility in his lower half. Stevens can be overpowered and out-maneuvered by twitchier opponents. Sitting further in his hips in pass pro will assist in his weight distribution and allow him to strike on a linear plane and at more advantageous angles.
Overall, teams in search of a versatile lineman to provide depth up front will prioritize Stevens. His play demeanor, alignment versatility, and success at multiple positions showcase a high-floor prospect who will compete his tail off for snaps if presented with the opportunity.
