Harrison Wallace III Scouting Report
Harrison "Tre" Wallace III, with his speed and acceleration, has the traits to be a vertical threat for an NFL offense.
Draft Grade: Round 4 - Developmental Traits
Strengths:
Vertical Threat: Wallace consistently showcases the ability to create explosive plays down the field using his speed and quick acceleration.
Acceleration/Speed: Wallace possesses high-end acceleration and true top-end speed, allowing him to run past defenders consistently. In an NFL offense, go routes, posts, and slot fades should be staple concepts to capitalize on his vertical ability.
Ball Tracking: As a deep threat, Wallace has proven he can track the football effectively. Whether slowing down to adjust to an underthrown pass or maintaining full speed while tracking the ball over his shoulder, Wallace shows good ball skills and concentration to finish explosive plays down the field.
Concerns:
Press Coverage: Wallace has a lean frame, which can make it challenging for him to consistently work through physical press-man coverage. He is at his best against off coverage or when aligned in bunch or staggered sets, where he can gain a free release off the line of scrimmage and immediately threaten vertically.
Role-Specific: Wallace’s game is built around straight-line speed, and his lateral agility appears more limited at this stage. This may initially make him a role-specific player at the NFL level, primarily deployed as a vertical field-stretcher. Early in his career, Wallace projects as a designated deep threat, with the opportunity to expand his role as his route nuance and overall skill set continue to develop.
