Film Analysis:
Que Robinson is a highly projectable edge rusher whose pass-rush profile, along with his athleticism in countering the run, showcases a contributor along an NFL front. While Robinson’s body profile is that of a tweener where he is a bit light to project as a three-down defender at 5-tech, the pop in his hands and explosiveness as a pass rusher are traits that will intrigue teams in search of fresh legs up front.
As a pass rusher, Robinson has an excellent get-off that plays with excellent leverage in the fringe areas. Often wins with his hands first inside the chest of opposing linemen, allowing him to control the rep early on. Powerful and what can be considered an elite long arm move, where Robinson has shown on multiple occasions to lift opposing tackles off the ground and into the backfield. When he sets it up correctly, it can devastate opponents. Good ankle flexion to run the arc and also does a nice job of keeping his hands active to fight off reach efforts from tackles. Closing speed is outstanding, and he will have no issue staying in the hip pocket of even the quickest of QBs at the next level. Would like to see some more power in his game at times away from the long arm, but his profile as a finesse rusher is plenty serviceable.
As a run defender, Robinson’s alignment versatility shines in his ability to chase in the fringe areas and is a player who projects as an athlete that can be utilized as a QB spy at the next level. Needs work in his functional strength to stack/shed, which will pave the way for more snaps on early downs, but Robinson does play with good leverage, good eyes, and a strong anchor to hold ground. More of a slasher than a dynamic engage and release defender at this point in time, but the skill set is evident to improve in that facet.
Overall, Robinson is a highly athletic edge defender who profiles early as a rotational contributor on passing downs whose success in that area could force a team to push him into more snaps. While fine-tuning is needed as a run defender—his hands, closing speed, and anchor showcase a platform for success—teams in search of immediate electricity into their pass-rush portfolio will prioritize Robinson’s game. In what is such a loaded positional group in this draft, Robinson remains a key name to note that has fallen behind the curtain a bit in the late-day-two, early-day-three bucket of pass rushers.
