North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton is among the best prospects at his position in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Tar Heels standout was incredibly productive throughout the 2024 season. Hampton rushed for 1,660 yards and 15 touchdowns. The dual-threat playmaker added 373 receiving yards and two additional scores to his offensive totals.
Hampton, the No. 14 overall prospect in our latest Draft Network 100 update, has also been consistent. He rushed for exactly 15 touchdowns while averaging an identical 5.9 yards per carry in consecutive campaigns. Hampton also shined at this year's NFL Combine. The 6-foot, 220-pound rocked-up ball-carrier finished second in the broad jump (10-foot-10) among running backs, ran a stellar 4.46, and leaped a 38-inch vertical.
Hampton is rivaling Ashton Jeanty for RB1. We've identified three ideal landing spots for Hampton via the 2025 NFL Draft.
Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns averaged a fourth-worst 94.6 rushing yards per game last season. Head coach Kevin Stefanski failed to field a balanced offense. With quarterbacks Deshaun Watson and Jameis Winston struggling, the Browns still couldn't lean on their ground attack.
Nick Chubb is an unrestricted free agent and won't return to Cleveland in 2025. Jerome Ford hasn't developed into a three-down back. General manager Andrew Berry hasn't added a veteran via free agency, strongly indicating the Browns will be drafting a running back to pair with Ford. The Browns own the No. 33 overall selection and could target Hampton with the second round's opening pick.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys let Tony Pollard walk in last year's free agency and replaced him by reuniting with an aging, ineffective Ezekiel Elliott. The results were predictably disastrous. The Cowboys' offense finished sixth-worst in rushing, averaging 100.3 yards per outing.
The Cowboys must approach running back with more urgency this offseason. They've signed Javonte Williams in free agency, but he's a rotational back at this point who's failed to average four yards per carry since 2022. Miles Sanders was also signed, but shouldn't be guaranteed a 53-man roster spot. No. 44 overall would be a prime selection for the Cowboys to target a legitimate workhorse in the backfield. Hampton would thrive as a three-down playmaker for Brian Schottenheimer.
Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton let Williams walk in free agency. General manager George Paton hasn't signed a replacement in free agency. The depth chart currently has Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime sharing backfield duties. The Broncos won't enter the 2025 season without adding another talented back to its roster.
Rookie quarterback Bo Nix kept the Broncos' rushing attack from being disastrously bad last season. No back on the roster surpassed 513 rushing yards (Williams) in 2024. This offseason is all about surrounding Nix with more talented playmakers. Hampton would immediately become the most talented ball carrier on the roster. The Broncos own three top-100 selections and should target Hampton in the first or second round.
