Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter is the best overall prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. Though Cam Ward and Abdul Carter currently appear likelier to compete for the No. 1 overall pick, Hunter could be this draft's big prize.
Hunter could realistically play a two-way role. Many teams agree his rare abilities make him capable of thriving at both cornerback and wide receiver. That possibility further enhances Hunter's pre-draft stock.
Hunter should theoretically be a top-three selection. Quarterbacks could slightly push him down, especially if Shedeur Sanders joins Ward as a top-three pick. We've identified Hunter's ideal team fits in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Tennessee Titans
Are we positive the Tennessee Titans shouldn't draft Hunter at No. 1 overall? In the interest of fairness, they've certainly navigated free agency like a franchise preparing to draft a quarterback at the top. They haven't pursued any of the big-name available veterans, opting to sign journeyman backup Brandon Allen. Will Levis remains on the roster, but last year's disappointing starter could be traded before training camp.
If the Titans decide against drafting a QB, Hunter should be the selection. General manager Mike Borgonzi possesses a massive need at receiver with the aging Calvin Ridley as the only proven asset on the roster. They were once thought to be deep at cornerback, but last week's unforeseen decision to release the oft-injured Chido Awuzie weakened that position group. Hunter plays two positions of need and would bring some much-needed star power to Nashville.
Cleveland Browns
With the Titans expected to draft Ward, the Cleveland Browns possess the opportunity to land the best overall prospect at No. 2. The Browns, like the Titans, are debating between drafting a quarterback or a better overall player. With Deshaun Watson having suffered consecutive Achilles injuries after failing to meet the expectations of his bloated contract, Ward and Sanders are understandably on their radar.
Cleveland has also entered the Russell Wilson sweepstakes. They'll be less QB-desperate if Wilson chooses them in free agency. Hunter could play receiver opposite Jerry Jeudy, and cornerback alongside Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome II, and Martin Emerson Jr.
New York Giants
Rumors of the New York Giants trading up to No. 1 overall for Ward or Sanders have quieted in recent weeks. General manager Joe Schoen has pivoted to the veteran QB market. Aaron Rodgers, Wilson, and Jameis Winston have all been linked to East Rutherford in free agency. Once Rodgers finally makes a decision, the Giants could begin working towards finalizing their draft plans.
If head coach Brian Daboll is satisfied with the outcome of the quarterback position in free agency, Hunter should be the top-ranked prospect on his draft board. Pairing Hunter with Malik Nabers would give the Giants the most dynamic young pairing at the wide receiver position in the entire league. At corner, the two-way Colorado star would join a transformed secondary alongside Deonte Banks, Dru Phillips, Tyler Nubin, Jevon Holland, and Paulson Adebo.
