Penn State tight end Tyler Warren continues to put forth big-time performances on Saturdays. The Mechanicsville, Virginia native lit up Purdue this past weekend. Warren recorded eight receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown through the air and had another 63 yards and a touchdown on the ground. He's now totaled 67 catches for 805 yards and five scores this campaign.
Warren is a high-level athlete who checks boxes as a future NFL pass-catcher. Reliable hands, route-running prowess, yards-after-catch ability, and toughness in traffic are traits that are all present. Warren is an extremely physical prospect with a well-rounded skill set.
Warren could potentially challenge Michigan’s Colston Loveland for the TE1 title. He currently projects as a top-64 selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. We've identified three ideal NFL team fits for Warren.
Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix has played outstanding football since the calendar flipped to October. In Sunday's blowout victory over the Atlanta Falcons, Nix completed 28 of 33 passing attempts (84.9% completion percentage) for 307 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions. The first-year quarterback has now thrown nine touchdowns and one interception in his last four appearances.
Nix has displayed chemistry with rookie pass catchers like Devaughn Vele and Troy Franklin. The Broncos will continue building around Nix this offseason. Courtland Sutton and Adam Trautman will be entering contract years in 2025. Warren is the type of weapon that has go-to playmaker upside in the right offense. Sean Payton would appreciate pairing him with his franchise quarterback.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals nearly executed an unthinkable comeback over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football. After trailing 24-6 at halftime, Joe Burrow and the offense eventually scored 21 unanswered points to tie the game at 27 apiece. The Chargers ultimately prevailed 34-27. Changes could be coming to the 4-7 Bengals this offseason.
That's especially true regarding their pass-catching personnel. Wide receiver Tee Higgins is all but a guaranteed departure as he's currently playing out a one-year franchise tag contract that dissatisfies him. Veteran tight end Mike Gesiski is also on an expiring deal. Ja'Marr Chase will be the last man standing as he'll soon command an extension that approaches $40 million per season. The Bengals need to continue pairing him with weapons on rookie contracts for salary cap purposes. Warren would be an appropriate No. 2 in Cincinnati.
Kansas City Chiefs
Travis Kelce is a 35-year-old tight end. At times, he's looked his age this season. Father Time is undefeated. Kelce could strongly consider retirement in the offseason if the Kansas City Chiefs successfully three-peat as Super Bowl champions.
Warren would be an appropriate selection at No. 32 overall—one that'd make an immediate impact. The Chiefs' offense will face sizable questions in a post-Kelce game plan. Rashee Rice is dealing with off-field trouble and a serious season-ending injury. Xavier Worthy is still attempting to prove he's more than a gadget weapon. Warren would be a fantastic succession plan. Warren's ability in the open field would quickly endear itself to Patrick Mahomes.
