Film Analysis:
Dillon Bell was a three-star recruit out of Houston, Texas, when he decided to attend Georgia in 2022. After winning a national championship in his first season, Bell went on to become a key weapon for the Georgia offense in his second season and now, as a junior.
Bell has become a notable asset to the Georgia offense due to his versatility in both the run and passing games. In 2023, Bell logged 25 carries in addition to his 29 receptions, amassing more than 500 total yards from scrimmage at an impressive 9.5 yards per touch.
Bell’s abilities with the ball in his hands are natural. In high school, he played a similar role, even stepping in at quarterback at times. It’s not surprising that he’s held similar responsibilities as a runner and receiver in college.
Bell’s receiving abilities alone have garnered NFL interest. He’s a bigger-bodied player who still moves with the same twitch and suddenness as smaller receivers. He thrives on the outside, where he can work double moves or break into the middle of the field to get the ball. He’s a smart route runner against zone coverage and does an excellent job of pressing coverage to open up the field.
Although Bell is one of the most versatile players in this class, his production can be feast or famine. I’d like to see him become a more consistent part of the offense. Projecting him to the NFL, Bell will need to improve his perimeter blocking to meet the standards of modern NFL offenses.
Bell brings a wrinkle to his game that few others do: full capability to play any role in an NFL offense. I expect him to maintain his duties as a do-it-all player in some capacity, capable of being a true Swiss Army knife for an organization.
