Conference play has kicked into high gear around the country. With Week 8 set to kick off, here are five players in the ACC to circle all over Saturday’s slate of football.
Cam Ward, QB, Miami
@ Louisville
What To Look For: I could have Cam Ward’s name listed here every week considering the current spotlight surrounding his game, but Louisville is a legit test that will push Ward to be his best all afternoon long. After a hot start to the year (11 TDs, 1 INT in his first three games), Ward has come back to Earth a little bit, throwing interceptions in three consecutive weeks against USF, Virginia Tech, and Cal. Ward is as talented as they come in the country, but taking care of the football and reeling it in a bit at times will go a long way toward finalizing his evaluation.
Antonio Williams, WR, Clemson
vs. Virginia
What To Look For: As Clemson QB Cade Klubnik has evolved, the talents out wide for Clemson have received more opportunities to make plays. Second among all ACC WRs in TD catches through seven weeks (5), Antonio Williams is a well-framed athlete with long limbs and an explosive lower half that has received attention from NFL circles.
Bhayshul Tuten, RB, Virginia Tech
vs. Boston College
What To Look For: Third in the ACC in rushing behind North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton (901) and Clemson’s Phil Mafah (604), Tuten (598) is another name to know in what is expected to be a historically talented RB class in 2025. A bowling ball with knives at 5-foot-10, 210 pounds, Bhayshul Tuten can go through and around defenders and has also been a serviceable weapon in space (16 targets). A former transfer from North Carolina A&T, Tuten remains one of the more underrated weapons in the ACC.
Haynes King, QB, Georgia Tech
@ No. 12 Notre Dame
What To Look For: One of the country’s most willing runners at the quarterback position, studying Haynes King’s ability as a passer this week will be huge as a player who sits as a fringe draft pick at this stage in the evaluation process. Notre Dame has athletes everywhere, and while King will use his legs to expand a defense as he always does, his ability to target the likes of Malik Rutherford and Eric Singleton Jr.—a talented tandem—downfield will be key if Georgia Tech eyes an upset of the Fighting Irish.
Corey Robinson II, OT, Georgia Tech
@ No. 12 Notre Dame
What To Look For: It’s a big test for Corey Robinson II and the entire Yellow Jackets front this week. A former transfer from Kansas, Robinson has been sensational in pass pro through seven weeks. While he didn’t work into starter’s snaps until Week 6 against Duke, Robinson has allowed zero pressures, zero hurries, one QB hit, and one sack in the last two weeks. Adding in his snaps rotationally prior to the Duke game, Robinson has allowed, in total, just one pressure in 122 pass pro reps.
