Indiana linebacker Aaron Casey recorded 109 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks this past campaign. It was among the most prolific seasons in recent Hoosiers history. Casey then improved his workout numbers at pro day by running a 4.60 40 with a 4.40 shuttle and 7.09 3-cone.

Casey recently spoke exclusively with The Draft Network about his 2023 season, putting forth a better showing at his Pro Day, which teams have shown interest in his services, and more.

JM: You took a huge step forward this season, totaling career highs in tackles (109), tackles for loss (20), sacks (6.5), and pass breakups (3). It was the first 100-tackle season by a Hoosiers defender in quite some time. What led to the uptick in production?

Aaron Casey: I would give credit to the defenders that came before me. I wanted to emulate the things they did that made them better football players. From there, I developed my own habits and preparation.

I was always ready for my opponents. That was my mindset heading into every single game. I knew how I was going to go out there and attack the game, attack the offense. I believe that mindset led to the success I had this past season.

JM: Who were some of those players at Indiana that inspired you?

Aaron Casey: I’m talking about guys like Cam Jones, Micah McFadden, Raekwon Jones, and Tegray Scales.

JM: A bunch of them are having success at the next level. What is it about your skill set that allows you to always be around the ball?

Aaron Casey: I have a natural knack for finding the football. Like I said earlier, terrific preparation goes into that. It’s all about taking that first step in the right direction. That mindset allows me to reach the ball.

When I get there, I arrive with speed and physicality. I love physical contact. That’s what allowed me to make so many plays at Indiana.

JM: You improved your workout numbers at your Pro Day. Scouts had you at a 4.60 40 with a 4.40 shuttle and 7.09 3-cone. You must have felt satisfied to have those numbers align with the outstanding stuff you put on tape.

Aaron Casey: The Pro Day was more of a relaxing environment. The NFL Combine, I’ll be honest with you, I had a tough time shaking the nerves. I had never experienced anything like that before. Going into Pro Day, I was more relaxed and driven to improve my numbers.

I knew I could put up better numbers than I did at the NFL Combine. I had put up better numbers all throughout the pre-draft process. I showed up when the lights came on at pro day. Being more relaxed and motivated allowed me to put my best foot forward.

JM: I love that. Have you met with any teams throughout this process, whether in person or virtually?

Aaron Casey: I’ve met with a bunch of teams virtually. I recently met with the Bengals, Jets, Jaguars, and Cardinals, to name a few.

JM: There’s a lot of interest in you and it’s easy to see why when I turn the tape on. We've appreciated your time today. What kind of impact is Aaron Casey going to make at the next level?

Aaron Casey: I’m going to prove that I can make whatever the impact the team needs me to make. I’m going to put my best foot forward every single week. You can count on me and trust me to get the job done.
