Penn State offensive tackle Caedan Wallace enters the 2024 NFL Draft as a pro-ready, three-year starter at right tackle. Wallace’s tape is clean and efficient, and he also enjoyed an outstanding performance at the NFL Combine. Wallace had an insane 9-foot-8 broad jump and ran the 40 in 5.15 seconds with an elite 1.74 10-yard split.

Wallace recently spoke exclusively with The Draft Network about his performance at the NFL Combine, playing in pass protection and as a run blocker, which teams are showing interest in his services, and more.

JM: You absolutely crushed the NFL Combine. You ran a 5.15 40 with a 1.74 10-yard split. You also had an outstanding 9-foot-8 broad. You were by far one of the most athletic offensive linemen in attendance. How would you grade your overall performance?

Caedan Wallace: I think I had a good day. I was able to showcase my movement skills. I was very explosive in the broad jump. It felt very rewarding to back up what I showed everybody on tape.

JM: Is athleticism at the forefront of your skill-set? The results may indicate that. What about physicality?

Caedan Wallace: I would say I pair athleticism with physicality. Those are my two biggest strengths. If you watched my position drills at the NFL Combine, I showcased lateral movements, as well my ability to comfortably play both left and right tackle.

I was excited to put that stuff on tape for NFL teams.

JM: You enter the draft as a three-year starter at right tackle at a big program like Penn State. How did that experience help prepare you for the next level?

Caedan Wallace: I think that experience at Penn State is going to help me out a ton. Going against the different defensive fronts we saw in The Big Ten, we saw some outstanding athletes on our schedule. I was able to expand my football knowledge at Penn State.

I played with a great one in Chop Robinson. We saw him in practice. I think all of those experiences are going to set me up nicely for the future. I’m looking forward to watching that translate.

JM: Talk to me about learning from the offensive linemen you came up with. Olu Fashanu was the left tackle this season and you held down the right tackle spot. You’ve played with Juice Scruggs and a number of others. How did they help you get better?

Caedan Wallace: I learned a ton from Olu Fashanu, Juice Scruggs, and so many others. From my teammates to the ones that came before me, everyone was so helpful. Rasheed Walker and Will Fries as well.

I’m a sponge. I just love picking up any advice or knowledge that could help make me a better player. Being around so many NFL offensive linemen definitely helped me expand my horizons. They for sure made me a better athlete.

JM: Do you see yourself playing in a gap/power scheme, or in more of a zone-based offense?

Caedan Wallace: I think my athleticism allows me to fit into any type of scheme. I do love a gap scheme as well, but I’m really good in that zone blocking system. My speed and power definitely benefits me in that type of scheme. I’m just excited to get to the next level. I can’t wait to dive into our playbook.

I’m going to become the athlete I know I can be.

JM: What was your favorite play to run in the Penn State playbook and why?

Caedan Wallace: That’s a great question. It would be between something we just talked about, one of our gap scheme plays, or one of our outside zone plays. I love a good double team in the gap scheme.

I love climbing to the second level as well, knocking the hip and dominating a linebacker. I also love a solo block in outside zone when I’m lead blocking. I can create some space and get my running back to the sideline.

It’s too difficult to choose between those two plays.

JM: That’s fair. Have you completed any pre-draft 30 visits, or virtual meetings?

Caedan Wallace: I had a bunch of meetings leading up to Pro Day. I have about five or six 30 visits I believe. I’m meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs, Colts, Commanders, 49ers, and Patriots. There are a few more on my schedule. It’s a loaded schedule. We’re still sorting through our schedule. I’m excited to visit these facilities and meet with different coaches. I’m excited to start understanding what the league is all about.

JM: There’s a ton of interest in you and it’s easy to see why. We’ve appreciated your time. What kind of impact is Caedan Wallace going to make at the next level?

Caedan Wallace: I think I’m going to turn heads at the next level. That’s honestly how I feel. I’m going to prove that I’m a dedicated guy. I’m an extremely hard worker that figures out how to execute my assignments.

I make great decisions because I’m a problem solver. On top of all that, I’m a winner. I can’t wait to prove myself at the next level. I’m going to show everyone what I’m all about.
