Auburn defensive tackle Justin Rogers is among the toughest linemen in the 2024 NFL Draft. A physically powerful defender, Rogers easily displaces offensive linemen in the run game. Few linemen in this class can match Rogers in that regard.

Rogers recently spoke exclusively with The Draft Network about transferring from Kentucky to Auburn, defending the run, how his pass-rush arsenal has improved throughout this process, and more.

JM: Now that you've thought about it, how do you reflect on the decision to transfer from Kentucky to Auburn?

Justin Rogers: It was a great decision for me. I carved out great relationships with the coaching staff and my teammates. I was excited to continue playing football in the SEC. A great opportunity presented itself to me at Auburn. I believe I made the most of it. I became a better football player because of it.

JM: Sticking with that topic, was staying in the SEC a priority for you coming out of the portal?

Justin Rogers: It most definitely was. I wanted to stay in the SEC. I didn’t want to play in any other conference. There’s better competition in the SEC than any other conference in college football. I didn’t want to downgrade from that perspective.

The football is on another level. A lot of people might say otherwise, but that’s just how I feel. Just take a look around college football, and the NFL as well. The best players come from the SEC.

JM: No argument from me. You're an outstanding run defender on tape. You play with terrific strength. What do you enjoy about stopping the run?

Justin Rogers: I love defending the run. I was always taught to never let anybody run up the middle. I protect the middle of the defensive line like that’s my house (laughs). I don’t want anybody coming into my house! I love stopping the run, man.

JM: I love that analogy (laughs). Are you more developed as a pass rusher, or as a run stopper at this point?

Justin Rogers: I would I’m equal in both areas now. I’ve been working on my pass-rush arsenal and my techniques throughout the process. I’m not ignoring my run-stopping techniques though. I’m working on both. I feel like I’ve gotten better in both areas throughout the process.

JM: Since it’s been a work in progress that’s getting better, how would you describe your pass-rush arsenal?

Justin Rogers: I like what you said. It’s been a work in progress this entire time. It’s leaps and bounds better than it was. I can see the differences. I know I’m getting better. I’ve been using my hands more effectively. My strength really pops. I’m winning with finesse as well. I feel like I’m getting better on both sides.

JM: What are your go-to moves and counters right now?

Justin Rogers: I would say the bull counter, the stutter bull. I love my powerful bull rush. I can get on the edge and hit you with that snap bull as well.

JM: Have you met with any teams throughout the pre-draft process, whether in person or virtually?

Justin Rogers: I met with the Jaguars and Seahawks virtually. I have an in-person meeting with the Bengals coming up. I have a virtual meeting with the Jets coming up as well.

JM: There’s a lot of interest in you and it’s easy to see why. We've appreciated your time today. What kind of impact is Justin Rogers going to make at the next level?

Justin Rogers: I’m going to make a big impact at the next level. I want to come in and earn a job. You have to earn everything in the NFL. Nothing is given to you. I’m trying to make the biggest impact I can make.
