Georgia Tech linebacker Andre White has experience in the SEC and ACC after transferring to the Yellow Jackets program from Texas A&M. White tallied 139 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and six passes defensed for the Aggies. He's an experienced and productive prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft.

White recently spoke exclusively with The Draft Network about his decision to enter the transfer portal, his favorite aspects of playing the linebacker position, which teams are showing interest in his services, and more.

JM: How do you reflect on your decision to transfer from Texas A&M to Georgia Tech?

Andre White: When I reflect on it, I think it was a great move for me to make. Going from Texas A&M to Georgia Tech, having both of those experiences, I played in big games such as the ACC Championship.

I feel like that makes me very versatile with great experiences under my belt. They were two very different environments. It made me versatile and a more well-rounded prospect. I thrived in both environments.

JM: What was the biggest difference between playing in the SEC and ACC?

Andre White: Everybody was very good in both conferences, to be honest with you. Those conferences are loaded with talented players. There’s a lot of great athletes in the SEC. The defensive linemen and offensive linemen are the stars of the SEC conference in my opinion.

I ultimately felt like the talent level in the ACC was very close. There aren’t any big differences overall. You could say the defensive linemen and offensive linemen are a bit bigger and better in the SEC. Everything else was even.

When we played Georgia for example, you can tell them boys are very big (laughs).

JM: That makes sense. What's your favorite aspect of playing the linebacker position?

Andre White: Linebackers have to be tough, hard-nosed players. We have to be leaders on that field. I love the leadership aspect that naturally comes with playing the position. We bring the team together. We have to thrive behind the defensive lineman.

We have to play clean-up and make a bunch of secure tackles. We pretty much have to be the glue that brings the defensive line and the secondary together. We’re the centerpiece, the communicator of the defense.

I like playing sideline to sideline, making plays, and making tackles. We get some opportunities to rush the passer as well. We also have to play in coverage by covering tight ends and slot receivers.

JM: Have you met with any NFL teams throughout the process?

Andre White: Yes, I’ve met with a few. I met with the Steelers, Ravens, and Falcons. Those are the main three teams I’ve met with. I’ve spoken and met with scouts from other teams as well, a bunch of them at Pro Day. I met with teams at the Trillion Tropical Bowl and the College Gridiron Showcase as well. Those three teams come to mind though.

JM: We've appreciated your time today. Why should an NFL team use one of their draft picks on Andre White?

Andre White: I bring a lot of energy to the table. I’m very physical and athletic. I believe in the common goal. That’s what we do it for. I’m here to win a Super Bowl. I love motivating my teammates through my passion. I have a natural love and energy for the game. I’m a team-first player.
