Film Analysis:
Tayvion Robinson enters the NFL draft as a fifth-year senior who has been a consistent producer throughout his collegiate career. Robinson finished the 2023 season with 41 receptions, 552 yards, and four touchdowns, all of which were relatively close to career averages. Robinson etched out a role in Kentucky's offense as a versatile middle-of-the-field producer who is comfortable working in high-traffic areas and can pick up extra yardage after the catch.
In Kentucky's offense, Robinson was primarily a slot receiver who was relied on to win in the middle of the field. Robinson was able to win by using his high IQ and a natural understanding of how to get open versus both man and zone defenses. Robinson worked the short and intermediate portions of the field, showing short-area quickness and the ability to properly tempo routes. He also did a good job of attacking defensive backs' leverage and manipulating the route to get to a spot. Robinson has above-average concentration and can consistently bring in passes in contested-catch situations.
After the catch, Robinson utilizes his strong frame and can pick up extra yardage by running through arm tackles. Robinson has a violent temperament running with the ball after the catch and will utilize a stiff arm to pick up extra yardage and finish the run. Robinson's best attributes are his ability to get open in the short-to-intermediate areas of the field and quickly be put in run-after-catch situations where he can use his frame to turn plays into bigger yardage plays.
Robinson's concerns as a player are surrounded by his lack of down-the-field production. On film, Robinson doesn't separate vertically and therefore there is a question about his ability to separate vertically from defenders and be used as a deep threat in the NFL.
Overall, Robinson has upside as a productive slot receiver who can also take jet motion handoffs and is used for screens where he can be utilized to use his run-after-the-catch ability.
