Liberty Flames offensive lineman X’Zauvea Gadlin is a versatile and experienced prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft. Gadlin has stacked reps at tackle, guard, and center throughout his impressive career. A former Tulsa transfer, Gadlin was recently a standout performer at this year’s Hula and East-West Shrine Bowls and received an invite to participate at this year’s NFL Scouting Combine.

Gadlin recently spoke exclusively with The Draft Network about his week-long appearance at this year's East-West Shrine Bowl, playing both guard and tackle positions, which NFL teams are showing interest in his services, and more.

JM: You recently participated in the Hula Bowl and the East-West Shrine Bowl. What do you think you proved to NFL scouts and decision-makers in attendance?

X’Zauvea Gadlin: I feel like the biggest thing I was able to show, especially at the East-West Shrine Bowl, was my versatility. I didn’t get to do a ton of that at the Hula Bowl as far as playing guard and center goes, but I did play both guard spots at Hula.

At the East-West Shrine, I got to play both guard spots and center. I’ve been able to showcase great positional versatility throughout my career.

JM: You’ve played a lot of tackle and guard throughout your career. You primarily played guard this season after playing right tackle in 2022. What have those constant transitions been like?

X’Zauvea Gadlin: I played right guard for the entire 2023 season. I primarily played tackle in 2022, like you said, when I first got to Liberty from Tulsa. The transition hasn’t been difficult. I played both guard and tackle in high school.

When I first arrived at Tulsa, I played tackle at first, but I also played guard and center before transferring to Liberty. I’ve consistently gone through those positions. It’s never been difficult because it’s what I’m used to.

JM: Which of the three positions are you most comfortable playing moving forward? Where do you see yourself sticking at the next level?

X’Zauvea Gadlin: I will most likely be an interior offensive lineman at the next level. That’s not to say I can’t play tackle if necessary. I can. It’s just probably not in my best interest for long-term success. I believe I have a long-term outlook as an interior lineman.

You can put me anywhere you want to. I’ll go play receiver if that’s what you ask of me (laughs). The best bet for me is to be an interior offensive lineman.

JM: That’s fair. You previously played at Tulsa before transferring to Liberty. How do you reflect on that decision?

X’Zauvea Gadlin: I wouldn’t take back that decision. It’s definitely something I felt was best for me. I still feel that way today. That decision paid off tremendously for me. I was able to graduate with my degree and I also believe Liberty best prepared me to play at the next level.

We played against some really good competition at Liberty. I also continued to prove I could handle that with the prospects at the Shrine Bowl.

JM: That’s awesome. Which NFL teams did you feel showed a lot of interest in you throughout your meetings at the Hula Bowl and East-West Shrine Bowl?

X’Zauvea Gadlin: A few of them, yeah. It doesn’t necessarily mean those are the only teams that like me. Every scout has a different personality and interview tactics. Approaches can differ.

I felt pretty good about a lot of those meetings. I had a really good interview with the Cardinals, Texans, Cowboys, and Giants. Honestly, I had a lot of really good interviews with a bunch of teams. I feel like my story is fairly unique and people haven’t necessarily heard it yet. It made for pretty good conversations.

JM: You received an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine. Congratulations on that. Which events and testing drills are you most looking forward to?

X’Zauvea Gadlin: I’m honestly looking forward to every drill. I love showcasing my athletic abilities. It’ll be a good test and opportunity for me. I’m excited to have that opportunity in Indianapolis.

JM: We’ve appreciated your time today. Why should a team use one of their 2024 NFL Draft picks on X’Zauvea Gadlin?

X’Zauvea Gadlin: A team should simply draft me because I don’t know many guys around the country besides a few I’m training with that have played multiple positions in college. I have a long and proven track record of versatility. I’ve done that at a very high level.

I feel like that overall versatility and positional flexibility have given me a ton of knowledge and experience. It puts me in a gratuitous spot to hit the ground running at rookie minicamp. I can move around as necessary as we deal with injuries.

I bring a lot of value. By drafting me, you can fill multiple roles and needs. I’m multiple players in one.
