Seth McGowan is a downhill power back who runs with physicality.

Strengths:

Physical/Violent Runner: McGowan is a physical, violent runner with the football. He understands how to lower his pads and run behind his strong, powerful frame. McGowan can power through arm tackles, invites contact, and finishes runs with physicality. He typically falls forward and consistently puts himself in position to gain positive yardage.

Downhill/Power Scheme: McGowan appears to thrive in a downhill, power-based scheme, where he can get his pads north and south quickly to pick up yards.

Quick Accelerator: Once McGowan takes the handoff, he can accelerate quickly and hit the hole at full speed, taking advantage of quick openings to pick up positive yardage.

Concerns:

Ability to Create: McGowan is primarily a straight-line runner and can struggle at times to create opportunities laterally through jump cuts or other evasive moves. He is at his best when a crease opens at the line of scrimmage, allowing him to accelerate and use his power to pick up yards.

Top-End Speed: McGowan appears to lack true elite top-end speed to consistently turn runs into explosive plays. While he accelerates quickly, his top speed does not allow him to consistently run away from defenders.
