Jeremiah Wright Scouting Report
Jeremiah Wright is a heavy, functionally strong interior lineman with solid pass pro fundamentals and good baseline run-blocking traits.
Draft Grade: Round 4 - Developmental Traits
Strengths:
Hands, Base, and Anchor in Pass Protection: Does a good job setting square, maintaining a solid posture and base, using physical hands, and holding up against power rushes.
Natural Strength/Mass: Carries a lot of mass effectively and can get away with more due to his strength. Can overwhelm smaller defenders and shows strong hands and grip strength.
Proficient in Gap Schemes: Excels as a pulling guard, consistently getting out and making clean engagements. Performs well on playside blocks by playing heavy and walling off defenders.
Physicality at Point of Attack: Plays with violence at the first meaningful point of contact and brings a consistently physical demeanor.
Concerns:
Heavy-Footed: Shows lumbering footwork at times and lacks reactionary athleticism. Struggles to recover once beaten and only flashes occasional foot quickness.
Poor Angles: Inconsistent with taking proper angles and landmarks, which leads to poor body positioning. Lacks the elasticity to recover and sustain blocks.
Athletic Traits: A stiff, top-heavy athlete with average lateral agility and limited explosiveness.
