Film Analysis:

Le'Veon Moss is an emerging workhorse back for the Texas A&M Aggies, an offensive unit that utilizes a running-back-by-committee philosophy. Moss, a true junior, has carved a role as an all-purpose back who can be utilized running in between the tackles or on the perimeter. At 6-foot and 185 pounds, Moss has a nice blend of size, acceleration, and toughness to his game.

Moss’ first noticeable trait is his short-area quickness. Although Moss has what appears to be a high-cut frame, he has above-average short-area quickness. Moss uses this trait to navigate penetrating defenders in the backfield and can also make defenders miss in condensed spaces when running in between the tackles. In tandem with Moss' short-area quickness, he also runs with power. Moss has a violent temperament to his running style. Moss has a finishing running style where he decides to lower his pad level and run through defenders to pick up extra yardage. Because of his finishing running style, he becomes an ideal candidate for an in-between-the-tackles runner to pick up the tough yardage.

Moss has a good athletic skill set but there are details of his game that can be improved with experience. Moss has lateral quickness and acceleration as part of his repertoire but it appears his lack of vision puts him in high-traffic areas instead of running to daylight. It appears that Moss will become impatient and the clock will go off when not needed when it comes to him aggressively hitting a hole. Taking the time to continue to survey the line of scrimmage or simply letting the blocks develop more could benefit him. Another element of his game that could be improved is his pad level. Moss can be an upright runner at times which affects his lateral cuts but could also leave him vulnerable to big hits by defenders in between the tackles. This could affect his overall durability as a running back.

Overall, Moss is a physically gifted running back with high-end physical tools. Given more reps and an improvement in the details of his game, he could be a starting running back at the next level.
