The Big 12 will hold its inaugural conference-wide Pro Day in Frisco, Texas at the Ford Center at The Star from March 27-31 ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. A total of 137 prospects will participate.
The Big 12 Pro Day has an opportunity to make a massive impact while altering the pre-draft process. Just imagine if other conferences follow suit. We've identified five offensive and defensive line prospects who can improve their pre-draft stock.
TYLAN GRABLE, OT, UCF
NFL scouts will be excited and anxious to lay eyes again on one of the most athletic offensive tackles in the 2024 NFL Draft. Grable ranked first in the broad jump (9-foot-9) among all participating linemen at the NFL Combine, second in the vertical (36.5 inches), and fourth in the 40 (4.95) despite weighing 306 pounds. Grable may have caught NFL decision-makers by surprise. They'll take advantage of another opportunity to evaluate his abilities. Tackles with high-end athleticism are always in demand on draft weekend.
MYLES COLE, DE, TEXAS TECH
Myles Cole is a long and athletic defensive end with moldable traits. Cole first captured attention at the weigh-in process in Indianapolis by measuring in at 6-foot-6 and 278 pounds with nearly 37-inch (!!!) arms. Rare athleticism was then displayed as Cole had a 35-inch vertical and 10-foot broad jump. Cole later performed the 40-yard dash in 4.67 seconds.
Cole’s length and size scream reliable contributor while he continues learning how to take full advantage of his natural abilities. The sky’s the limit.
PATRICK PAUL, OT, HOUSTON
Patrick Paul possesses the unteachables. Size and length provide Paul with an opportunity to develop into a Pro Bowl-caliber tackle if the right offensive line coach can sort through some of his technical warts such as hand placement and timing.
Paul is starting to receive back-end-of-round-one buzz in certain league circles. He could continue gaining momentum toward being a top-32 pick with an outstanding showing at the Big 12 Pro Day.
JOWON BRIGGS, DT, CINCINNATI
Briggs lacks outstanding length, but he was a versatile-alignment defensive lineman for the Bearcats that played everywhere from 0-tech to 5-tech. Briggs departs Cincinnati with 14.5 tackles for loss and 8.0 sacks under his belt. Briggs is consistent as a run-stopper and pass-rusher. NFL teams searching for underrated defensive linemen will pay attention to Briggs, who was snubbed from the NFL Combine.
COOPER BEEBE, IOL, KANSAS STATE
Cooper Beebe is a rare athlete despite being a phone-booth blocker who weighs 322 pounds. The Kansas City native ran the 40 in 5.03 seconds. That is a refrigerator on wheels! Beebe also posted elite agility results with a 4.61 shuttle and 7.44 3-cone. The Wildcats standout had a 9-foot-1 broad!
Beebe deserves more top-64 hype than he's receiving. Beebe proved he's plenty athletic, but it's sheer strength and power that physically overwhelms defenders that's at the forefront of his scouting report. Beebe's pre-draft stock increases every time he gets in front of NFL decision-makers.
