Film Analysis:

Dallin Holker is a good receiving tight end who plays his best detached from the line of scrimmage. In the slot, he finds the voids in the defense and makes himself available. Holker is fearless when crossing the middle of the field. He has good contact balance as a route-runner. It is not easy to disrupt him mid-stem with physical contact. He appears to get better as the game progresses and his targets increase. He showcased the ability to handle good receiving volume and targets.

Holker’s contact balance shows up at the catch point. He plays well enough through contact to battle for positioning for the football. Holker’s body control is a strength and advantage to make those difficult catches look routine. He possesses good hands to pluck the ball away from his frame.

Route-running is an area of needed improvement for Holker. He separates initially but drifts upfield, eliminating the separation he created. This opens up space for a defender to undercut his route. He lacks dynamic athleticism and speed to threaten defenders after the catch for chunk yardage.

As a run blocker, Holker doesn’t fire off into defenders and lacks aggression at the point of attack. As a lead blocker, he misses the mark at the engagement point of the block.

Holker projects as a rotational depth tight end. He can fill the role as a TE3 with TE2 upside. Right now, he’s more of a move/receiving TE than an every-down player.
