3 Teams That Should Trade For Haason Reddick

The Philadelphia Eagles have granted EDGE Haason Reddick permission to seek a trade this offseason, according to multiple reports. The 29-year-old Reddick is currently scheduled to enter a contract year. The Eagles owe Reddick a base salary of $14.250 million in 2024, and he'll carry a cap charge of $21.3 million, per Spotrac. A March 15 roster bonus of $1 million likely qualifies as the deadline for Philadelphia to move Reddick.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman isn't in a great position to offer Reddick a lucrative extension, a circumstance that's at the forefront of their impending breakup. Reddick posted a team-leading 11.0 sacks this season and has totaled 27.0 sacks over his two previous campaigns in Philadelphia. Reddick is an extremely productive pass rusher whose availability should be met with widespread interest. We've identified three potential landing spots via trade.

ARIZONA CARDINALS

The Cardinals could quickly emerge as a frontrunner for Reddick's services. Head coach Jonathan Gannon served as Reddick's defensive coordinator with the Eagles in 2022. The results? A career-high 16.0 sacks for Reddick.

There shouldn't be any awkwardness between Reddick and the Cardinals despite him playing the first four seasons (2017-20) of his career in the desert. It wasn't Gannon and general manager Monti Ossenfort that allowed Reddick to walk in free agency.

The Cardinals accumulated a 30th-ranked 33.0 sacks this season. The defensive-minded Gannon understands the importance of rostering difference-making pass rushers, and he currently has none in Arizona. The rebuilding Cardinals will be expected to take a sizable step forward in 2024. Ossenfort possesses the financial flexibility and resources necessary to acquire and extend Reddick.

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS

New Commanders head coach Dan Quinn understands the impact a pass rusher like Reddick can make after coaching Demarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons in Dallas. Quinn also had a front-row seat to Reddick's production within the NFC East division. All of these factors lead me to believe Washington could poke around Reddick's availability.

First-year general manager Adam Peters also wasn't the one who traded away Montez Sweat. The Commanders have a pair of game-changers up the middle in Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen, but the edges need work after the previous regime parted with Sweat and Chase Young. The Commanders are also preparing to draft a rookie quarterback and can afford to spend money a little recklessly while that quarterback is on a four-year cost-controlled contract.

DETROIT LIONS

The Lions are struggling to cope with blowing a 24-7 lead in the NFC Championship Game. Wondering what could have been, general manager Brad Holmes is now tasked with improving a young roster this offseason. The Lions possess most of the pieces necessary to be annual contenders. The pass-rushing spot opposite Aidan Hutchinson could use an upgrade.

The by-committee trio of Charles Harris, Romeo Okwara, and an injured James Houston combined for 3.5 sacks. Harris and Okwara are scheduled to reach free agency and shouldn't be welcomed back as more than rotational contributors. Adding Reddick's speed opposite Hutchinson's finesse would positively change the scope of Detroit's pass-rushing capabilities.
